Click play to hear the stories of some of the refugees living in
Stoke-on-Trent, the issues that they face and how Sanctus can help them.
Sanctus St Marks exists to welcome, support and walk alongside people who are isolated, due to leaving behind the country of their birth to seek sanctuary in the UK. Our name comes from the Latin word which means Holy. We believe that there no action more holy than welcoming and loving people.
This is one of the ways in which we seek to express our faith as Christians, a reflection of the self giving love of Jesus Christ. Our welcome aims to be open, non judgemental and generous, treating all people with equality and dignity, regardless of their economic or social circumstances.
Our drop in sessions are supported by a team of committed volunteers, Sexual Health Services, Mental Health Asylum Support Team and other voluntary organisations.
We meet each Wednesday morning from 9.30am until 12.30pm. Men, women and children are all welcome. We have 'stay and play' activities for pre school children and their parents, staffed by qualified workers.
During school holidays we have lots of crafty fun where everyone can get involved!
